Casting Crowns has a Christmas message for America. For some people the truth of the message will be hard to swallow. Just like history remembers Bethlehem as the town which had no room for the birth of a Savior, history may one day judge US harshly.

Looks like another silent night
As we're sung to sleep by philosophies
That save the trees and kill the children

  • If an environmentalist invites you over for dinner, do not assume that your host’s primary purpose is to serve you a meal. The goal is education. You cannot assume your host is vegan or vegetarian either. Doing so could lead to a number of social faux pas that are on par with or worse than calling them a Republican.
  • On Monday in the Washington state Capitol, Christians on one side of the rotunda will erect a Nativity scene, with a 3 1/2-foot-tall Joseph and Mary and a baby Jesus in a manger. On the other side of the echoing dome, members of an atheist group will post their own display: a 4 1/2-foot-tall sign declaring that there is no God and that “religion is but myth and superstition that hardens hearts and enslaves minds.”
Christmas

There are lots of Advent Calendars out there. The Trommetter Times Advent Calendar is meant to help children learn the Christmas story. The questions are designed for Kindergartners through Third Graders; although, older/younger children can probably learn from it too.

Start using the calendar on the First Day of Advent by clicking on December 1st. Click on December 2nd on the second day, etc. the questions from the previous day(s). Continue this until Christmas Eve, when all of the questions will be answered. The questions build on one another, and your children will from repetition. Learning all of the answers will reward children.
