Libertarian Outcry

Every freedom-loving American should be upset about this court ruling
The ruling allows the justice department to effective tap anyone’s
phone or read their e-mail if they’re suspected of being involved in
terrorism. How long will it be until it’s used for things other than
terrorism? What’s scary is that the hearing was conducted in secret. The only lawyer who appeared was the government’s lawyer and ACLU and other lawyers were shut out of the proceedings.
Orwell was just off by 18 years. Pretty good prognostication for a science fiction story.
“Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?”*
* For those of you who don’t speak Latin, that means “Who
will guard the guards?” or maybe more accurately “Who will watch the
watchers?”
