Considerably less than the 1 million hoped for

"Though organizers expected as many as one million people in Washington today to march in support of abortion, police estimated that only a quarter of that number actually attended the pro-abortion rally. While media outlets varied in their description of the numbers, some estimated that only "tens of thousands" participated."

This is probably a more accurate picture of what actually happened in D.C.

Vast Crowd?

Women’s Rally Draws Vast Crowd

Death! Hundreds
of thousands of people filled the Mall and marched along Pennsylvania
Avenue yesterday to show their support for abortion rights, loudly
identifying President Bush as the leading enemy of “reproductive
freedom.”

It’s been over a decade since the last pro-abortion march in
Washington. You would think they could generate more enthusiasm. The
rally supposedly drew a “vast crowd.” I’ve read about a dozen articles
from different sources and the crowd estimate was anywhere from “tens
of thousands” to 750,000. The U.S. Park Service doesn’t do estimates
any more, so we’ll probably never get an accurate count.
