Fallujah Assault Begins

A full-scale U.S.-led assault on Fallujah appeared to be underway Monday, after Iraqi Prime Minister Iyad Allawi declared a state of emergency following failed attempts to persuade religious and tribal leaders to prevent terrorists from using the city as a staging-post for attacks.

I know what the headlines are going to be in the liberal media broadcasts tonight. “Why didn’t Bush do this before the election?” They think if Bush had done this two weeks ago, he would have lost the election.

‘Incredibles’ Rakes in an Amazing $70.7M

"The Incredibles" lived up to their name at the box office as the animated superhero adventure debuted with $70.7 million in its opening weekend, continuing an unbroken string of hits for Pixar Animation.

Pixar earned every dollar it took in this weekend. Rachel and I saw the movie on Saturday night and we loved it. This is Pixar’s best work yet. Don’t miss it, you have to see it on the big screen!

Football

I’m used to the Panthers close games, but today was enough to give any fan a heart attack. They were down by 10 points with less than 4 minutes to go in the 4th quarter. Scored a field goal after a penalty-filled drive. The good news came when they stopped the Raiders with 3 and out. They got the ball back and tied it up 24-24 with over two minutes on the clock.

That was their mistake. They left too much time on the clock, and the Raiders still had 3 time outs left. It looked like the Raiders were going to score a touchdown, but they settled for a field goal. That was enough to seal the Panthers fate.

Election 2004 Religion

You know if this was Bush speaking at a predominantly white Baptist church in South Carolina, they’d be all over it. Why isn’t Americans United for Separation of Church and State trying to have Shiloh Baptist church’s tax exempt status removed?

I find Kerry’s use of the Bible to be very disingenuous. He uses religion when it’s convenient, but ignores the Catholic Church’s teaching on abortion.

“Matthew 25 reminds us how there is a standard by which we have to live,” said the Massachusetts senator, attending services at the predominantly black church to help rev up a critical portion of the Democratic base. “Coming to church on Sundays and talking about faith and professing faith isn’t the whole deal. That doesn’t do it.”

To applause from about 500 in attendance at the Shiloh Baptist Church, Kerry went on to say that it is “written in James, ‘What does it mean, my brother, to say you have faith if there are no deeds? Faith without works is dead.’”
