Sometimes my kids get me the greatest gifts. Pumpkin and TJ stuffed and dressed a Koala bear for Father’s Day. I love this bear.

Carowinds Carousel
We went to Carowinds today. It was sort of a mini-vacation to celebrate my new/old job at Ahold. Spent the morning going on regular rides and then went over to the waterpark in the afternoon. Took lots of pictures.
Harassing the Homeless
I saw something happening on the streets of Charlotte yesterday, and I’m not sure how I feel about it. My initial reaction was “What are those two white cops doing harassing that homeless black woman?” Before I got there, I think they gave her a citation (if that’s the right term) for pan-handling. (It’s illegal to beg for money on the streets of Charlotte.) They were shouting at her that she’d have to go to the courthouse to find out when her court date would be.
Deep Throat a Hero?
I’m not old enough to remember the Watergate scandal. I was only 6 years old when Woodward and Bernstein broke the story. But we learned about it in middle school and high school. Our teachers told us that “Deep Throat” did the country a great service by bringing down President Nixon. Now that the identity of Deep Throat has been revealed, FBI Deputy Director Mark Felt, a different perspective emerges.
In a recent CNSNews.com article, Chuck Colson, a Nixon confidant, disagreed with the notion that Felt was a hero.
“A hero is someone that you want other people to emulate…and to say he was a hero because he broke his trust…he broke the confidence of the president of the United States.”
