Libertarian Health Care
In response to a Canadian readers question, I’ve written this post about the Libertarian view on health care.
There are three over-riding principles that govern our views:
- Health care is not a “right.” No one is entitled to health care. Like every other consumer product, you should pay for it yourself.
- Government has no business being in the health care business.
- The health care industry and the insurance industry should be de-regulated. Regulation drives up costs.

Jackie Mason to defend Christmas
Representing a Jewish organization that defends Christians, comedian Jackie Mason will ride down New York City’s 5th Avenue today to highlight the "war on Christmas."
Mason is a founding member of Jews Against Anti-Christian Defamation, or JAACD, the organization sponsoring the event. According to a statement from the group, the entertainer will ride in a 15-foot Ford Excursion with banners proclaiming, "Jews for ‘It’s OK To Say Merry Christmas.’"

Accompanied by a lawyer, a couple successfully acquired permission from a Pennsylvania town council to set up a Nativity scene on public property.
Housing officials ‘cancel’ Christmas
Managers in charge of two federally subsidized housing facilities have told residents in one case they cannot sing Christmas carols, and in another they can’t decorate their own entry doors with religious symbols, according to a religious-liberty law firm.
A Wisconsin school that had secularized the lyrics of the beloved Christmas carol "Silent Night" has now agreed to change the words back to the original after receiving countless phone calls and e-mails about the issue.
Ann Coulter says, "I’m getting a little insulted that no Democratic prosecutor has indicted me. Liberals bring trumped-up criminal charges against all the most dangerous conservatives. Why not me?"
12 Days of Christmas
Ever wonder where all those crazy things come from in the 12 Days of Christmas? Each one of the items has a spiritual meaning:
- Partridge in a pear tree is Jesus Christ, the Son of God
- Turtle Doves = The Old and New Testaments
- French Hens = Faith, Hope and Charity, the Theological Virtues
- Calling Birds = the Four Gospels and/or the Four Evangelists
- Golden Rings = The first Five Books of the Old Testament, the “Pentateuch”, which gives the history of man’s fall from grace.
- Geese A-laying = the six days of creation
- Swans A-swimming = the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit
- Maids A-milking = the eight beatitudes
- Ladies Dancing = the nine Fruits of the Holy Spirit
- Lords A-leaping = the ten commandments
- Pipers Piping = the eleven faithful apostles
- Drummers Drumming = the twelve points of doctrine in the Apostle’s Creed

‘Narnia’ Knocks Out Boy Wizard
Another fantasy world has joined Hollywood’s instant-blockbuster club. Disney’s "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" (adapted from C.S. Lewis’ tale of enchantment, epic battles and talking animals) debuted as the weekend’s top movie with $67.1 million, according to studio estimates Sunday.
Bad News:
‘Hate-crime’ possibility: Baby Jesus kidnapped
Police in South Florida are investigating a possible hate crime after a "baby Jesus" was stolen from a Nativity scene and other figurines were rearranged to make it look like one of the Three Wise Men was worshipping a sheep.
