Superbowl XL was supposed to be the Extra Large Superbowl. Did it live up to that billing?

I expected the Steelers to win, but by a bigger margin. So the score of 21-10 wasn’t XL. Maybe the score should have been just 14-10 if you think the line judge made a bad call on the Steelers first touchdown.

You would expect an extra large half-time show, but we didn’t get that. I was watching the game on a time-delay thanks to my DVR, so I fast forwarded through most of the Rolling Stones mini-concert. By my count, they only sang three songs. Mick had to be hopped up on drugs and Keith must have been on downers. The stoned Stones looked every bit like the geriatric patients they are. I liked last year’s half-time show much better.

Were the commercials extra large? The FedEx caveman commercial was certainly big with all the dinosaurs. Hummer tried to make a large commercial with Godzilla and Ultraman, but I think it was just plain weird. The Anheiser Bush commercial with the Clydesdale pony was cute, but the first Clydesdale commercial was the funniest. (That was the one with the streaking sheep.) A lot of people judged the “magic refrigerator” to be the funniest.

All-in-all, I don’t think it was an extra large Superbowl.
