Six Myths About Libertarianism

Libertarianism is the fastest growing political creed in America today. Before judging and evaluating libertarianism, it is vitally important to find out precisely what that doctrine is, and, more particularly, what it is not. It is especially important to clear up a number of misconceptions about libertarianism that are held by most people, and particularly by conservatives. In this essay I shall enumerate and critically analyze the most common myths that are held about libertarianism. When these are cleared away, people will then be able to discuss libertarianism free of egregious, myths and misconceptions, and to deal with it as it should be — on its very own merits or demerits.

S.C. Lt. Gov. Caught Speeding, No Tickets

Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer has been stopped at least twice in the past four months for speeding — once for going 101 mph in a 70 mph zone on a wet highway — but was let off without a ticket. Video taken by a camera mounted in the patrol car shows that when the trooper asked the driver for his name, Bauer identified himself as “SC Two” — code for lieutenant governor. The trooper then says, “You have a good night, sir,” and the video ends.

Racism gets a whitewash

This weekend, militant racism from a protected minority group was on full display. But you wouldn’t know it from press accounts that whitewashed or buried the protesters’ virulent anti-American hatred. An estimated 500,000 to 2 million people, untold numbers of them here illegally, took to the streets of Los Angeles to protest strict immigration enforcement and demand blanket amnesty for border violators, visa over-stayers, deportation fugitives, immigration document fraud artists and other lawbreakers. Mexican flags and signs advocating ethnic separatism and supremacy filled the landscape.

Alec Baldwin v. Sean Hannity in Radio Donnybrook

Hollywood liberal Alec Baldwin stormed out of an in-studio radio interview Sunday night after he was confronted on the phone by radio hosts Sean Hannity and Mark Levin. Baldwin was 30 minutes into a planned two-hour-plus sit-down with WABC Radio’s Brian Whitman when Hannity called in. The fireworks commenced almost immediately.
