Standing up to the ACLU
All I can say is “Good for them!” I hope more local governments stand up to the ACLU and say “We won’t allow you to censor us.”
ACLU request hasn’t a prayer, Raleigh panel saysCity Council members refused Tuesday to strip Jesus, Buddha, Guru Nanak or any other religious figures from the prayers that open its meetings, bracing for a legal fight with the American Civil Liberties Union.
Good work up there in Raleigh. Keep it up, don’t let the ACLU intimidate you.

Yeah, then the ACLU will sue and force the Raleigh city council into compliance with the law. Then they’ll cut the education budget and wonder why the city’s children get dumber.
Look there a perfectly good reason for the separation clause. I’ll let Tommy Jefferson explain why
“The Christian god can be pictured as virtually the same as the many ancient gods of past civilizations. The Christian god is a three headed monster; cruel, vengeful and capricious.
If one wishes to know more of this raging, three headed beast-like god, one only needs to look at the caliber of the people who say they serve him. They are always of two classes: fools and hypocrites.”

I think the ACLU is bluffing and blustering. In most cases, they have no standing to sue in court.
Show me where the phrase “separation of church and state” appears in the Constitution? You can’t, because it doesn’t.
I’m unfamiliar with the Jefferson quote, where did you get it?

The phrase “separation of church and state” is the glib name given to the widely held interpretation of the establishment clause and can be found next to the parts of the constitution granting the federal government the right to regulate and ban abortion or detain people without trial.
As for the Jefferson quote, it’s something my friend passed along, I’ve emailed him for a source, so I post that when it comes.
