More proof that it’s still safer to hunt with Dick Cheney than drive with a Kennedy.

Kennedy Car Crash Cover-Up?
According to a letter sent by Officer Greg Baird, acting chairman of the USCP FOP, the wreck took place at approximately 2:45 a.m. Thursday when Kennedy’s car, operating with its running lights turned off, narrowly missed colliding with a Capitol Police cruiser and smashed into a security barricade at First and C streets Southeast.

“The driver exited the vehicle and he was observed to be staggering,” Baird’s letter states. Officers approached the driver, who “declared to them he was a Congressman and was late to a vote. The House had adjourned nearly three hours before this incident. It was Congressman Patrick J. Kennedy from Rhode Island.”

Then he tried to use the excuse that he couldn’t be arrested because he was on the way to the Capitol for an important vote. At 2:45 in the morning? If this guy wasn’t a Kennedy and a Congressman I’m sure he would have spent the rest of the night in jail.

On the radio this morning, they were talking about how Kennedy said he had taken an Ambien pill before driving. Still sounds like driving while impaired to me.

  • Assuming this is true, it’s not that bad. Now he’s tied with Bush, but still 2 behind Dick Cheney in the driving while drunk department. Christ, as if NCLB wasnt proof enough that Kennedy and Bush werent basically the same.
