Lipstick Bungle
McCain Campaign Accuses Obama of Comparing Palin to a Pig
“But you know .. you can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig. You know, you can … wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change, it’s still going to stink after eight years.”
Obama really doesn’t do too well without scripted remarks. If you watch the video, he doesn’t look like he quite knows what he wants to say. He rubs his forehead and looks like he’s trying to find the right words.
If his opponent was a man, chances are this wouldn’t have been an issue. If Palin hadn’t made the pitbull with lipstick remarks in her convention speech, he probably would have gotten away with it. Obama’s campaign is still reeling from the announcement of Palin as McCain’s running mate. I think they realize now that Obama won’t just be able to descend off mount Olympus like some Greek god and assume power in Washington.
There’s also some evidence that Obama plagiarized the line before the offending remark.
John McCain says he’s about change, too, and so I guess his whole angle is, ‘Watch out George Bush.’ Except for economic policy, health care policy, tax policy, education policy, foreign policy and Karl Rove-style politics …
