Imagine No Religion
This billboard was just put up in downtown Harrisburg this week.
I really don’t know how to react to it. As a Libertarian, I say they have a right to put up whatever billboard they’re willing to pay for. As a Christian, I’m deeply offended by the Freedom From Religion Foundation. As an American I point to the First Amendment which guarantees freedom of religion, but does not guarantee freedom from religion.
I’ve lived a faith-filled life. Without faith, I wouldn’t have been able to get through a lot of things that happened to me over the years. I don’t understand people who have no faith. I have very little in common with them. I’d have to say I have more in common with a Jew that I do with an atheist.
I have no idea what they’re trying to accomplish with this billboard. Do they want to ban street corner preachers? Do they want to ban outdoor religious gatherings so they can live a life free form religion? Do they want to shutter churches? I just don’t know.

Christians are not allowed to be offended. Just suck it up.
But don’t you find it amusing that this billboard is effectively quoting John Lennon, and the source lyric also includes the line, “Imagine no possessions.”
Musta been easy for HIM to do.

We don’t want to ban anything. This is a free country. We want people to consider a world free from religion. Religion is divisive and unnecessary. You would have been able to cope just fine without believing in the supernatural . . . but we would never try to take your freedom to believe away from you. Millions of good Americans are free from religion . . . and contrary to your opinion, you cannot have the freedom OF religion if we don’t also have the freedom (in government) FROM religion. There is no religious freedom without the freedom to dissent.
