It’s just entertainment

Movies

Why do some people always have to see a political motive behind every movie? Can’t they just enjoy it for the entertainment value?

‘Terror-supporting movie’ tops in weekend box office

‘Terror-supporting movie’
tops in weekend box office
‘V for Vendetta’ scores $8.35 million in opener.
A new movie characterized as a “terrorist-supporting, anti-Christian, neo-Marxist, left-wing propaganda” film by one prominent critic led the nation’s box-office this weekend.

To say this movie is anti-war is ridiculous. It’s based on a graphic novel written in the 1990′s, well before the U.S. invaded Iraq. The producers started work on this while they were making the Matrix trilogy, which was released on DVD in 2003. You do the math, the whole project was conceived before we invaded Iraq.

Narnia Soundtrack

Music Inspired by the Chronicles of NarniaI haven’t decided whether or not I’m going to buy this CD yet. I’ve listened to a few samples online at Amazon.com and I wasn’t impressed. Some of the songs are good, but there are some I just don’t like.

It’s not available yet on Napster, so I can’t download the album from there. If it was available, then I’d just buy the tracks I like and forget about the rest.

Wipeout!

Movies Photography

I’ve been having a lot of fun with my new DCR-DVD7 DVD Handycam Camcorder. It’s great because it records directly to a mini-DVD which can be finalized and played in a regular DVD player. You can also transfer files directly from the camera to your computer. They come in as MPEG files that can be edited and manipulated by programs like Microsoft’s Movie Maker. The video quality is good, but the still pictures are only 640×480. (But that doesn’t really matter because I also have a Sony Mavica FD200 which takes 2 mega-pixel pictures.)

My latest creation is a short video titled "Wipeout!"

The Princess Bride

The Princess Bride (Special Edition)
One of my favorite movies, ever. We watched it just about every weekend during one year of College. I can recite lines from it over and over again. "’Ello, my name is Inigo Montoya, you killeda my father. Prepare to die!"

Recently I got to introduce this movie to the next generation, my daughter. She loves the movie almost as much as I do. "Inconveivable!" She’ll look at me and say, "Mawwage, mawwage is what bwings us together today. … and luv, true luv."

There’s only one really scary scene in the whole movie, so it’s safe for most kids to watch. Nobody dies a gruesome death. In fact, the first person to die, dies laughing. I highly recommend it.

Slow-paced Action Movie

Collateral
For a movie that’s supposed to be an action-thriller, it was very slow paced. I guess they had to build the relationship between Vincent (Cruise) and Max (Foxx) with a lot of dialogue, but it slowed the movie down. Glad I didn’t pay to see it, I watched it on one of the movie channels I get free with my digital cable package. (2.5 stars)
