Congressio­nal leaders are lying about the backroom deal they cut to raise the debt ceiling and “cut spending.” The “spending cuts” are not cuts, they’re just smaller increases than originally planned. We need zero baseline budgeting, not “beltway math.” Obama is lying about no tax increases. Debt deal assumes the “Bush Tax Cuts” will expire in 2013. That’s at least a $1.2 trillion tax increase baked into the deal.

John Boehner’s Debt Ceiling Bill Stalls In House

Aside

If Republican­s want to give back the House, lose seats in the Senate and give Obama a 2nd term, then they’ll pass the current Boehner bill. But I think there are some in the Republican party who don’t want to do that, so they’ll stand firm.

Democrats think they can stall, then blame Republican­s for whatever happens. They’re the ones who don’t care about the economy.

The Budget Battle and Duplication of Government Programs

There’s a lot of talk in the news today about a new GAO report that identifies duplication of government programs. Elimination of some of these programs and an evaluation of the effectiveness of others could save taxpayers billions of dollars. But Congress winds up looking like a bunch of jackasses because they won’t listen to their own accounting office.
