Government must join obesity fight, advocates argue

“Government intervention, not just a better diet and daily
exercise, is needed to combat obesity, public-health advocates and
government officials said yesterday. “
Why do we need the government to be a nanny who tells us, “You’re
too fat?” It’s not their job. You’re responsible for your own body.
Parents should teach their children good eating habits. We don’t need
the government nanny!
CAGW has named the South Carolina legislature Porkers of the Month for overriding almost every one of Governor Mark Sanford’s (Republican) 106 budget vetoes of wasteful, pork-barrel spending. After Gov. Sanford vetoed almost $36 million of a $5.5 billion fiscal 2005 budget, the Republican-controlled legislature breezed through 105 overrides in the House and 99 overrides in the Senate with little or no debate.

GOP seeking key votes in Senate
I am sick and tired of the
Congress giving the President a blanket approval to everything in his
budget. And then, on top of that, they add in their own pork. After
getting an e-mail from Congress.org, I fired off this angry letter to my
Congress critter.
