Sheep and Wolves

Wile E. CoyoteIn the United States today, the people act more like sheep and the government is increasingly acting like wolves. So, I thought it might be appropriate to remember some quotes from our Founding Fathers and other wise men.

“If once the people become inattentive to the public affairs, you and I, and Congress and Assemblies, Judges and Governors, shall all become wolves. It seems to be the law of our general nature, in spite of individual exceptions.” ~Thomas Jefferson

“A nation of sheep will beget a government of wolves.” ~Edward R. Murrow

“Who makes himself a sheep will be eaten by the wolves” ~Proverb

Nebraska safe haven laws are being mis-used

Life

I’m sure some of you have heard news stories that some parents are using the Nebraska “safe haven” laws to dump children, some as old as 11 years, that they can’t control and don’t want anymore. It’s interesting to me to see that some of the people criticizing the Nebraska law are adult adoptees.

I don’t usually get this personal on my blog, but I think this issue is important.

Same-Sex Marriage, Three Points of View

Family

The way I see it there are three points of view when it comes to same-sex “marriage.” There’s the one the homosexual activists support — the government should sanction their marriages the same way they sanction traditional marriage. Then there’s the Focus on the Family view — same-sex “marriage” should be banned because it’s an idea that comes straight from the pits of hell. Roberts’ Roundup

Justice

Bush hoping nomination will install Roberts’ rules of order#
Once again, President Bush has confounded his critics by doing what he said he would do. He has nominated to the Supreme Court someone he believes will not make law from the bench, but interpret laws in light of the Constitution as the Founders wrote it.

Souter in Roberts’ clothing#
After pretending to consider various women and minorities for the Supreme Court these past few weeks, President Bush decided to disappoint all the groups he had just ginned up and nominate a white male.

Calculated confusion#
Those who want to see judges who will apply the law instead of imposing their own policies face not only political obstruction to the appointment of such judges but also calculated confusion about the very words used in discussing what is at issue.

Marriage, as conceived by God, is a good and fruitful thing. Marriage, as conceived by the state, is an evil man-trap designed to deprive men of their property and their children.”

Vox Day on WorldNetDaily.com

I couldn’t have said it better myself. When I got married, I asked the Baptist preacher if he would marry a couple without a license? Law abiding citizen that he was, he said no.

We need more preachers like Matt Trewhella who says, “What’s recorded in a family Bible will stand up as legal evidence in any court of law in America. Early Americans were married without a marriage license. They simply recorded their marriages in their family Bibles. So should we.

Amen, brother. Preach on!
