Libertarian Health Care

In response to a Canadian readers question, I’ve written this post about the Libertarian view on health care.

There are three over-riding principles that govern our views:

Health care is not a “right.” No one is entitled to health care. Like every other consumer product, you should pay for it yourself.
Government has no business being in the health care business.
The health care industry and the insurance industry should be de-regulated. Regulation drives up costs.

I love the idea behind Star Spangled Ice Cream. I used to buy Ben & Jerry’s, but won’t buy it anymore because of their stand on political issues.

…that Won’t be Asked about Iraq by Ron Paul. He is the only libertarian member of Congress. Notice I didn’t capitalize “libertarian.” He’s registered as a Republican, but he defied his party on the Iraq resolution. He gave two great speeches on the house floor on October 3rd and October 8th.
