With fuel prices this high, you have to ask...

A T-shirt I got for free from the folks at PA Commuter Services.

I spent almost $68 to fill up my gas tank this morning!

  • Al Gore has certainly secured his place in history. His Academy-Award-Nobel-Prize-winning prediction that climate change will raise sea levels by 20 feet will be studied by future history students, along with the predictions of Malthus and Paul Ehrlich.

June 26th, 2008 will be remembered as a very famous day in History. Today, for the first time, the SCOTUS has acknowledged that the 2nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution gives individuals a right to keep and bear arms. In a case that strikes down D.C.’s handgun ban as unconstitutional, the Court ruled the Constitution does not allow “the absolute prohibition of handguns held and used for self-defense in the home.” A victory for law-abiding American citizens and a resounding defeat for elitists like Barack Obama who say we’re not allowed to defend ourselves.

Obama is surrounded with armed guards every minute of the day, but he doesn’t think poor people should be able to defend themselves from criminals. Make sure you think about that when you go to the voting booth because the next President could appoint two or more U.S. Supreme Court Justices.

What others are saying…

  • When VeraSun Energy inaugurated a new ethanol processing plant last summer in Charles City, Iowa, some of that industry’s most prominent boosters showed up — and so did Senator Barack Obama.

When are we going to start hearing about Obama’s ties to “Big Ethanol?”  If it’s up to the drive-by media, probably never.
  • I’m writing to ask you to reconsider your opposition against lifting the ban on drilling off the coasts of the United States. The congressional ban can be rescinded without your voice, but you’re still a heavyweight in one of the largest coastal states.

Once again, Chuck states things better than any politician I’ve heard talking about the gas crisis.  Maybe he should run for public office?  Maybe McCain should pick him as VP?

  • State officials have offered a lung cancer patient the option of having the Oregon Health Plan, set up in 1994 to ration health care, pay for an assisted suicide but not for the chemotherapy prescribed by her physician.
If Obama gets elected and implements his socialist/Marxist policies, this is exactly what we’ll have nation wide. Rationing of health care and an ever increasing nanny state.

  • The itch to control the U.S. oil industry is spreading among Democrats in Washington, with Rep. Maurice Hinchey, D-NY, joining in a call to nationalize the energy company assets. “We should own the refineries,” Hinchey said today.
No wonder Hugo is such a hero to these guys. They want to run our country the same way Chavez runs his banana republic down there in South America.
  • It took a day of congratulatory calls from friends before Nabil Fawzi realized the risk he took by pulling a gun a would-be bank robber standing just feet away, claiming to have a bomb. But the gas station owner said he wouldn’t hesitate to do it again.
Proving once more that we need an armed citizenry to keep our country safe
  • According to a new study, increased emphasis on helping students with a history of lower academic achievement results in lower performance for high achievers. This trend appears to be related to the No Child Left Behind Act.

  • In this short essay, written for a symposium in the San Diego Law Review, Professor Daniel Solove examines the nothing to hide argument. When asked about government surveillance and data mining, many people respond by declaring: “I’ve got nothing to hide.
I’ve always thought this was one of the stupidest things people could say. What happens if the cops misinterpret the data they’re seeing? That will definitely cause an inconvenience for you and may even force you to hire a lawyer to defend yourself. In addition to this short essay, you’ve got to read “Little Brother” by Cory Doctorow.
  • The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has documented that compact fluorescent light bulbs are not safe to use in some locations, and cleanup of broken fixtures can involve cutting out sections of carpeting that are contaminated with mercury.
  • Two Muslim women at Barack Obama’s rally in Detroit on Monday were barred from sitting behind the podium by campaign volunteers seeking to prevent the women’s headscarves from appearing in photographs or on television with the candidate.
Guess Obama doesn’t want to get pegged as too sympathetic to Muslims. Afraid he might lose some of the blue collar “working class” whites he needs to win the election?
